Description:
Excellent example of a High Standard Sport King (Second Model -Lightweight variant) with a 6" barrel manufactured in the mid to late 1950s. Original checkered wood grips in very good condition showing no signs of excessive wear or cracks. Magazine in good condition and marked "Hi-Standard" is original to this firearm. Bolt stays open on empty magazine with fully functional safety and bolt release levers on left and right side of firearm respectively. Adjustable rear sight. Bluing and markings are exquisite on this high quality .22LR pistol. The fit and finish along with the balance in which this firearm sits in one's hand makes this an exceptional example of the quality High Standard is known for. Founded in 1926, High Standard manufactured high quality firearms in New Haven, Hamden and East Hartford, CT up until 1984. This Sport King specimen is part of the "100 Series" #9158 batch with SK-100 and the word "Lightweight" stamped onto its frame and therefore dates to the 1956-1959 production run. This series introduced the small push button barrel release takedown which is prominently positioned just forward of the trigger guard. .22 Long Rifle
