Antique Peabody Civil war carbine. made by Providence tool company in Providence Rhode Island.from1866 to1873.Total quantityof all models112,000.Iron mountings,blued finish with case hardened receiverWalnut wood stock, 20 inch barrel,metal is clean and smoth with no corrosion single shot,50 caliber rimfire. Forend fastned by a single band, sling ring on left side.Marked peabody patent July 22 1862 single shot loadingwith a triggerguard lever which is pushed downward and opens the breechblock and the cartridge is inserted then the triggerguard lever is pulled back up and the carbine is ready to fire
Condition; stock with sharp proper inspecter cartouche and no notceble dings dents and inspecter markings on metal,
Barrel has a pleaseing blue/brown patina and reciever has silvered out to 5% case colorsThe bore is very fine/ excellent with virtaually no rust or corrosion, was not fired much.$1,150
