Description:
World War II Era TURKISH ANKARA Model 1903 8mm MAUSER Pattern Rifle C&R

Turkish Military INFANTRY Rifle with SLING

Here we present a C&R Turkish Ankara Model 1903 Military Rifle made in Ankara, Turkey circa 1935. Many of the Turkish rifles were lumped together into a group called the Model of 1938, which wasn’t a single model, but rather a common set of features. The designation isn’t even one that the Turks used, but rather is a designation that U.S. importers used to describe these rifles. It is assumed that the Turkish military took whatever rifles that they had and converted them to this design. The most common of these rifles are the K. Kale marked rifles. The markings on this rifle are T.C. for Turkive Cumhuriveti, for Republic of Turkey. A.S.F.A. for Askari Fabrika, or Military Factory. ANK ARA for the city of manufacture, and the 1935 date below.

Though the Turks were neutral in World War II, they were courted by both the Allies and the Axis. Despite all the two-timing, they stayed neutral to the end of the war. They gave refuge to both sides, giving refuge to the Germans that were escaping the Soviets in Bulgaria and Romania in 1944, and the Allies in Greece in late 1944 and early 1945.

The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright bore. The stock is solid with an average amount of dents and dings. Markings are legible. “1935” dated barrel. This piece is “CAI” import marked. The leather sling is in good shape.
