Description:
The Manufrance Ideal is actually a unique version of the trigger plate action made famous by top Scottish gunmakers and is often called the “French Round Action”. Serial no. 30xxx was made in Ste. Etienne, the capital of French gunmaking and it features an intuitive finger lever behind the trigger guard to open the action. Also has double triggers and ambidextrous safety buttons mounted on either side of the trigger guard. The engraving is crisp and there is some residual case coloring on the action body. This little French assassin weighs just 5lb 9oz and features rare 29” barrels. Easy to carry for a day afield; the longer barrels flow to the target.   ***   The 29” barrels are made of Acier Hercule steel and have 2-5/8” chambers and extractors. They are topped by a crosshatched swamped rib. The right barrel is inscribed “Manufacture Francaise D’Armes Cycles De Saint Etienne”. The left barrel is inscribed “Fusil Ideal Brevete Dans Tous Pays.”. The bores are good with a little frosting and the bluing shows some wear. The right barrel is bored 0.671 with a constriction of 0.005 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.025. The left barrel is bored 0.676 and has a constriction of 0.021 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026.   ***   The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are made of very highly figured French walnut. The stock has been replaced sometime in the recent past. The splinter forearm has a lever opener. Checkering on the stock is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-9/16” over a checkered butt by 1-1/4” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the righthanded shooter. The original stock housed a retractable strap that could be attached to the ring on the bottom of the front barrel.   ***   This great handling little small bore is a great upland gun. A lot of gun for the money.  ***   Please note that the photographs are part of the description. I am an FFL and will need a copy of your dealer’s FFL. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or specified address if the gun is classified as an Antique. Returns at buyer’s expense.
