REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA GERMAN FLINTLOCK OFFICER’S HOLSTER PISTOL BY JOHANN VON DER FECHT OF BERLIN CIRCA MID 1700’S. 18 ½” o/a with 11 ½” ribbed .55 cal. smoothbore barrel signed “G. VON DER FECHT BERLIN”. Original flintlock and not a reconversion. Finely engraved faceted brass lock with all the original ornately formed and finished parts and signed below the pan with the maker’s name. Highly articulated engraved mounts of the finest quality. Brass butt cap with grotesque mask face on the boss. Fine square back trigger guard with “Fern” finial. Open work engraved brass side plate with 2 “Dragon Heads” and classical portrait bust of “Caesar”. Superb highly relief carved walnut stock and original brass tipped wood ramrod. Excellent 100% original condition overall with all the original parts down to the last screw and with no restoration. Working order and good bore. Type of large German Cavalry pistol pictured in Warren Moore’s book “WEAPONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION” pages 50-52 as used during the war. Exceptionally fine example by one of the most famous Prussian master gun makers.
