Description:
Serial #452370, 7.5mm Swiss, 25 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is extremely rare rifle. One of only 96 manufactured and tested by the Swiss Army, that has all-matching numbers (including both the scope and magazine), and retains 98-99% of the original blue finish, with only some trace silvering along a few of the edges. The bolt has its original armory bright finish remaining, with only some minor marks along the bearing surfaces, and is equipped with a later, 1944-dated shroud. The rifle has both standard battle sights, and a removable low power scope with fixed periscope objective lens, and internal elevation adjustment out to 1000 meters (controlled by the tangent scale and slider on the top of the scope). The scope mounts via a single rail on the left side of the receiver, and is secured by a pivoting lever. The scope has the typical Swiss reticle with two horizontal bars flanking a central right angle peak, and has slightly cloudy, but fully functional optics. The stock has only a few very minor handling marks in the original military finish, and a crisp Swiss cross-in-shield stamp is present on the right side of the buttstock. An original metal muzzle-cover is also included. These rifles were not made in any great numbers, and were used for trials following the tests of the extremely cumbersome Model ZFK 1940 sniper rifle. The design of the ZFK 1942 led directly to the design of the ZFK 31/42, which was formally adopted by the Swiss Army. This is a fine-excellent example of an extremely rare Swiss trials sniper rifle, brought into the country prior to 1968, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
