7.8 mm, #6208, 23 inch solid ribbed barrel, blue and case color finish, top of barrel marked "H. BARELLA-HUFBUCHSENMACHEN-BERLIN", extra figure hardwood stock, keyed forearm, original sights, quick release scope mount marked "Paul Jaeger-Jenkintown, PA.", scope marked "B NICKEL MARBURG/L/ 4X36ES Nr 436336/MADE IN GERMANY". horn butt plate, double set triggers, tasteful light engraving, 1920's.
Heinrich Frederich Wilhelm Barella (1819-1893) was gun maker to Czars, the Royal Prussian court, Maharajas and various European crowned heads. At Heinrich's death his nephew, Mathew, took over the business which stayed open until 1931.
Condition: excellent bright bore, 99% barrel blue, 99% case color on receiver starting to darken, chip in stock at base of top tang, hair line crack from rear of trigger guard to top of stock, excellent mechanically, excellent marks.
