Description: This circa 1898 Double Action revolver is a Colt's PT F.A. Mfg Co Model of 1894 chambered in .38 Colt. It has a fixed blade front sight and a grooved rear sight, a smooth blued trigger and checkered blued hammer, and original wood grips. It bears the initials of US Ordnance Sub-Inspector Rinaldo A. Carr's script R.A.C. inspection cartouches on both grip panels, the bottom of the barrel, the right rear side of the frame and the back side of the cylinder (x4). The top of the barrel is clearly marked in two lines: COLT's PT F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED AUG. 5, 1884 NOV. 6, 88. MAR. 5, 95. The left side of the barrel is clearly marked with the caliber of the revolver, COLT. D.A. 38. The bottom of revolver's butt is crisply marked in six lines: U.S. / ARMY / MODEL / 1894 / 103 / 987. The cylinder release is marked K over the number 3987, which is the last 4 digits of the serial number. The letters "LF" and the last four digits of the serial number also appear on the inside of the frame where it meets the crane, and on the crane itself. It appears that this revolver had an after-market nickel plating job, as it shows considerable finish loss throughout, showing multiple areas where the nickel has peeled off. The wood grip panels appear to be original, however, they do not show the last four digits of the gun's serial number. .38 Long Colt SOLD Chambers: 6-round cylinder Metal Condition: "Considerable finish loss throughout, showing multiple areas where the nickel has peeled off Wood Condition: "Great patina, well-worn wood grips Bore Condition: Mirror bright and shiny bore with good rifling intact Barrels: 6" barrel Triggers: Smooth blued trigger and checkered blued hammer Stock Dimensions: 11¼" overall length Butt Pad: RAC stamped smooth wood grips Weight: 2 lbs 0 oz Sights: "Fixed blade front sight, fixed groove rear sight Item Location: Wichita, KS |
