Description:
A Very Desirable Civil War Percussion Colt Model 1855 #5A Root Revolver In Fine Plus Untouched Condition. Serial #2908, with all matching numbers. All original and complete. Made in early 1861 and in .31 caliber. It has the flutted cylinder and the longer 4 1/2 inch barrel on it. The revolver has fine plus metal, markings and edges. It has a New York address on it. The barrel retains a mix of original factory blue mixing with a natural plum patina. The frame, flutted cylinder, and backstrap retain most of their original factory blue with only a couple of small areas thinning to a plum color. The loading lever and hammer both retain most of their darkening case colors on them. All screws are excellent with their original blue. The original factory grips are excellent plus and retain their original factory varnish on them.The revolver has a fine bore and action.
These Colt Root Revolvers Were often Carried By Officers And Soldiers During The Civil War. This Is A Very Fine Untouched Example Of An Early Civil War Percussion Colt Model 1855 #5A Root Revolver With A 4 1/2 Inch Barrel!
