Description:
REMINGTON ARMS Model 1894 Double Barrel 12 Gauge HAMMERLESS SxS Shotgun C&R

Side by Side from the TURN OF THE CENTURY

Here we present a C&R Remington Model 1894 Hammerless Shotgun, manufactured circa the turn of the century in Ilion, New York. The 1894 was made in grades A through E, and the top grades will compete on even terms with any gun made in America for strength and beauty. The problem is finding one of these scarce hammerless shotguns. The 1894 was made from 1894 to 1910 for a total of some 42,000 examples. It seems the 1894 was usually bought by people who were serious shooters. Even in the higher grades, many of these guns show signs of heavy use which made the survival rate quite low.
The barrels have a Damascus finish with a single bead front sight on a solid rib marked with the one line address. The casehardened action features a top break lever, tang mounted automatic safety and double triggers. Both sides are marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO." It has a checkered forearm and round knob pistol grip stock with a factory checkered hard rubber buttplate.

Remington Arms was founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington in Ilion, New York, as E. Remington and Sons. Remington is America's oldest gun maker and is claimed to be America's oldest factory that still makes its original product. Remington is the largest U.S. producer of shotguns and rifles.

The overall condition is nearing fine. Robust action. This example has maintained a smooth and bright bore with some wear at the breech. Solid stock. Nicely checkered at the wrist. Sharp markings. Wonderful damascus barrels.
