Offered for sale we have a stunning Chapuis Chasseur. This game gun is chambered in 20GA with 28’’ barrels. Double triggers & ejectors are standard. Below you will find a list of the specs & my personal opinions on the look, feel and mounting. AT FIRST GLANCE:
At the first look I was drawn to the sleek and slender splinter forend. At almost 11 inches long there is plenty of real estate to place your had, most other game guns have right around an 8-inch splinter forend. The LOP is longer than most lines on the market. This will benefit taller shooters. It is nice to take something out of the box and have it work for you. If you need a 15+ lop and you don’t want to add a rubber pad this deserves a good look. A note on the wood butt plate: at the top of but plate it has a chamfered edge for fast snag free mounting. This is something you would not notice unless you needed it and is a great feature to have as standard. On the breach face and barrel flats they have their style of jeweling (engine turning). On this model the engraving is laser cut. It looks very good (hand engraving available on Artisan Models). Disc Set Strikers (bushed Firing Pin) easy to change a broken firing pin & it looks great as well. Round body action.This screams old world quality made with new world technology. Chapuis prides itself in being an all-French brand: all stages of manufacturing and finishing are carefully and lovingly executed in our St.-Bonnet-Le-Château facility, resulting in some of the most strikingly beautiful hunting guns you will ever see. When it comes to premium-level aesthetics and sophistication, very few nations in history have been able to rival France’s reputation for excellence. The difference is in the details.
MY PERSONAL TAKE:
Most shotgunners think Italian or English when you think fine gun. Well, that is not the case here. The French might not be well known in the US market for their production of fine sporting arms; however, they should be. Chapuis is—and has always been a brand known throughout Europe for producing fine guns. The French were making semi auto rifles for infantry men during the first world war, the rest of the world was making single shot and bolt guns. No strangers to firearms innovation and manufacturing with this firm. This would look fabulous in a Hermès branded motor case. If you are looking for something different, here it is. I am extremely excited to offer Chapius rifles & shotguns to my clients.
