Description:
Springbok Arms of Salisbury, South Africa .416 Rigby. This rifle is a custom built with an Oberndorf action and what looks to be an FN sporter stock with a custom made barrel. All of the work is very well done and there are others of these that have sold in the United States. I have been told that these were popular with hunters and professionals in Africa and were mostly magnum calibers above .375 H&H. The action is a standard length commercial action with an older .30-06 proof and the front ring has been notched for extraction purposes. The trigger is good and the safe works well, all blue on the action and furniture are strong, the rifle allows for 2 down and 1 up loading, extractor is jewelled and the bolt handle angle should allow for a scope with a large rear bell. The barrel is 25" with strong blue and a perfect bore, the rear sight is one standing that is very strong and quick to sight shallow V, front sight is a medium white bead set on an island. The stock is straight grain walnut with a 14 1/4" length of pull, recoil lug below the forward ring, the chequering matches the pattern of an FN sporter and is in near perfect shape, the finish is minty, original FN plate, stock mounted swivels and there is a sling eye at the bottom of the barrel mounted forward of the stock.
