This Colt Detective Special was made in 1951. Introduced in 1927, the Detective Special was the first short-barreled revolver with swing-out cylinder. It was intended to be a concealed carry handgun used by plainclothes detectives. Less than stellar sales saw the it dropped from the production line in 1996. .38 Special
