Description:
This is a very rarely seen full and sealed, 25 original rounds, box of Winchester .56-50 Spencer rim fire ammunition. The one piece square box interestingly has the incorrect Stetson's Patent date of Oct. 24, 1874 often seen on pre-1900's labels but also bears the File Code of "76" and Date Code of "4-8" making this the latest "Oct. 24" box label (see Giles & Shuey p20). It remains in near excellent sealed condition with intact primary and side labels having excellent graphics with a beautiful wood cut of the cartridge. The buff box shows some very minor rub wear and slight age soiling with edge wear along several sides. A superb box for the ammunition collector and to display with your Spencer rifle.
