This Winchester Model 1886 Rifle I was the original founder of, it came out of an old turn of the century school house in Philipsburg Montana and has been in Montana its entire life til I picked it up from the 80 year old collector. This 1886 has that typical "Frontier" appearence collectors love to see. Serial number 34,6**, Manufactured in 1889. The barrel was period shortened by W.F. Sherard to 19 1/2" which they were known to cut barrels to make short rifles. The top of the barrel is marked "W.F. Sherard Livingston Mont". This example on the frame shows silvered out case colors while the barrel shows traces of original blue finish. Mechanically works well. The forearm is very good condition, the buttstock shows a repair as well as the near the buttplate it almost looks as if someone had it to close to a campfire. Adds much intrigue to what life this Winchester has lived! A real and true frontier and wild west used Winchester 1886 in the desirable 45-90 caliber! Shipping is $45 plus actual insurance. Thanks!
