Description:
Serial #65583, .45-70, 32 1/2" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves towards the muzzle. This rifle retains about 75-80% of the original blue with the balance of the metal either freckled to plum-brown. There is silvering at the muzzle, along the high and exposed edges, as well as spots of mild freckling throughout. The lockplate has some original blue remaining, while the hammer and low arch breechblock have a mottled gray-brown patina with muted original color case-hardening visible. The walnut stock has numerous handling marks and blemishes throughout the dark brown oil finish, and the cartouche is no longer visible. A checkered steel grip adapter is fitted to the wrist, and a leather sling is installed. The action is still tight and the breech lock-up is firm. This is a very nice looking Trapdoor that is in very good condition overall. Antique
