Description:
This is a very good US M1873 Trapdoor Socket Bayonet with original scabbard and frog. The 18" blade retains 85-93% of the original bluing with US on the ricasso and blade is nearly free of any imperfections, only light marks from age with light oxidation scattered on the blade. The neck shows a series of file marks on the right side. The 3" socket is in very good condition with light marks from use and very light oxidation and is marked C&Co for Collins & Company. The excellent scabbard retains some of the original bluing with oxidation, tiny scratches on a nearly dent free surface. This comes with a Hoffman device, leather and brass belt loop frog in very good condition with the US on a stippled brass casting, with some scattered verdigris, tight stitching and a fine patina.
