*** SOLD *** High Collector's Grade and Extremely Rare, 1939 U.S Navy Colt 1911A1 U.S Property, 45 auto. Absolutely breathtaking!
Based on our thourough inspection, we here offer an All Original and Correct example of a super desirable and hard to find Navy pistol!
This example was shipped to Officer in Charge, Naval Supply Depot, Sewall's Point, Virginia on December 18, 1939 ( one of 1,088 guns in that last 1939 shipment). Only 3,636 made that year!
It feautures the distinctive and beautiful brushed blue finish. The original finish is high grade and excellent!
The slide is properly marked with a "P" and it has the matching serial number under the firing pin stop plat (716615). The barrel is correct, marked "COLT .45 AUTO", with a small capital "G" ahead of lugs.
The frame is correctly marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", and has the correct "P" above magazine latch, and "H" (final inspection and acceptance by Frederick W. Hauff). Top of frame by disconnector hole, it's the correct "G" (Government contract), and the "R" inside an Oval (provisional inspection mark of Major Charles S. Reed). The correct "VP" is on the upper left side of trigger guard.
The feed ramp is properly unfinished.
Original walnut stocks, fully checkered with 28 rows of checkering between the screws, and in great condition!
All small parts are original and correct, hammer, grip safety, safety lock, magazine housing, slide lock, etc...
It comes with correct two tone unmarked magazine!
Again, condition is outstanding, I'd rate it 95%-98% easily... very hard to find in this condition!
