Colt 1862 4.5" Police Percussion Revolver. Serial No.1968. Manufactured in 1861. Revolver is in good condition , but definitely shows signs of use in the war. All numbers match, including the wedge. Action works fine. No original finish. Grips have original finish on them. What is OUTSTANDING is the inscription on the backstrap. It reads: "DEATH TO TRAITORS" A.W.S.. Death to traitors was the Battle Cry or Saying of Lafayette Curry Baker, Colonel of the 1st DC Cavalry. What a history he had. This Revolver JUST SCREAMS CIVIL WAR! Don't know whose initials they are, as there are several in the 1st DC Cavalry as such. You can find prettier inscribed Civil War Revolvers, but you can't find one more IN YOUR FACE!.
