In 1908 Purdey converted the original pistol grip to a straight grip and added the leather covered recoil pad.
Beautifull original condition Purdey 10 bore that was built as #1 gun of a pair of lightweight 10 bore grouse guns. Used as a spare to the #2 gun for wildfowl in the north east United States most of its life which explains why it is in very good/excellent condition.
Very few best quality 10 bore self quality purdeys were built and even fewer with a rounded action bar.
