Olympic Arms AR-15 in .30 caliber carbine. A unique rifle that uses M1 carbine magazines thru a mag conversion block in the lower. Rifle is in very good condition. I have updated with current M4 style hand guard and an enhanced M4 carbine stock. You will receive the original older style “ retro” furniture as well. This includes the skinny handguards, (pre M4 style) and a plastic Oly CAR-15 stock. These are pretty rare carbines. Reportedly, only about 400 made for the US market. This one is in excellent condition. No major blemishes or cosmetic scars. There is a bit of wear on the end of the flash hider. Will come with one KBI 15 round magazine and one aftermarket (unkown manufacturer), 30 round magazine. All G.I. Carbine magazines should work in this rifle. Parkerized magazines do fit snug. Blued magazines are best.
Story is that a Middle Eastern country had a huge supply of .30 cal carbine ammunition and sought a manufacture to provide them with a more modern rifle platform to use this stockpile of ammunition. Olympic Arms was tapped and apparently made about 3,000 for the customer. They were intended for police use and not the military. Unfortunately, there is little history on these rifles, except they were only available for a few short years to the civilian market in the US.
This MAY possible be an assembled "kit" gun as I have had some people say the built guns were all named "PCR .30"...? I am not sure. Lower receiver marked as "Mod. MFR" and Cal. Multi 2005. Hard to find much info on line. I know it is said that Olympic Arms also sold some "kits" comprising the upper assembly with the gas block and mag release for any lower. I bought this rifle as complete rifle. It has banned features, and the lower is marked 2005. The Oly lower has a commercial carbine buffer tube. The upper has a sight tower with a bayonet lug, and threaded barrel. Was it possible that these features could still be offered by American Manufactures, but could not be imported? I am unclear on this, but wanted to bring it up for full discloser. Any way you look at it, it appears to be a complete Olympic Arms rifles in a very unique caliber to the AR-15. More powerful than any 9mm carbine. The .30 carbine gives you .357 magnum power, in a soft shooting, modern platform. Remember (if you over 55) when many homes had M1 carbines in the corner of the cloest, because the wife could handle the recoil?
