EXTREMELY RARE "BABY CHIEF SPECIAL" PRE-36 .38 SPECIAL, WITH RED BOX, #2XXX, MADE 1950. For the first year of production in 1950 these introductory revolvers were made on the "I" frame and feature a half-moon front sight. Starting in 1951 the larger "J" frame was used and the front sight had the familiar ramp. This is an excellent example that appears to have seen no use. There is some slight edge wear to the back of the cylinder which is probably from just being kept in the box. All numbers match including inside the diamond checkered grips. The box has the cortrect end label and aside from some minor scuffing is excellent and has the instructions on the inside of the lid. It does not appear to be numbered on the bottom. Nice case colors on the hammer and trigger. A sharp example with box. Not often seen.
