1969 - Weatherby - Mark V - Varmintmaster / Whitetail Deluxe - .250 Savage, 24" Bbl, 6 lbs. 10 oz.
This is a wonderful little Varmint Master that somone turned into a Whitetail Deluxe.
Clearly the rifle has been rebarreled. I have no idea who did it. The stylized "Weatherby" on the barrel makes me think Weatherby might have rebarreled the rifle. However, I recognize that is possibly wishful thinking by the guy (me) trying to sell the rifle. A friend called Weatherby - they have no records on work performed on rifles over the years. So, there is no way to verify that Weatherby did - or didn't - do the work.
I believe the concept of the Whitetail was developed in the early 1990s. This is a German Varmintmaster action that was likely built in 1969 - based on the serial number.
