Here is a very fine rook rifle by William Evans, built circa 1908. The 26" octagon barrel was lined to .22 LR, and has an excellent bore. The barrel address reads: WILLIAM EVANS (FROM PURDEY'S) 63 PALL MALL. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON. The rear sight consists of three folding leaves, marked 50, 100 and 150. The receiver features the maker's name and border and scroll engraving. The pull-off fore-end has an ebony tip. The figured pistol-grip stock has an engraved steel grip-cap and a blank initial shield. The length of pull is 14 5/8" with neutral cast. The weight is 5 lbs 10 oz. A handsome, high quality rifle.
