Description:
For your consideration, an Ithaca Model M1911A1 chambered in .45 ACP. Frame markings consist of the "FJA" cipher of Inspector Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood at left, and the expected U.S. property and branch markings at right. There are markings on the barrel hood which have been smoothed into illegibility by the cycling of the pistol. The frame's front strap has been checkered and the barrel bushing is a National Match unit. Sighting consists of a US marked Kensight rear with a ramped Patridge front. The slide bears the distinctive discoloration of mid-war spot hardening of the slide stop area. This piece dates to 1945. To all outward appearances, this is a Camp Perry National Match pistol, but documentation is lacking. .45 ACP
