Description:
For consideration is a Colt Pre Woodsman or also known as the Colt Target. This Colt Target Pistol or "Pre-Woodsman" is finished with Colt's brushed blue finish. It wears the factory checkered walnut grips with diamonds around the escutcheon rings. The Colt Target pistols were the predecessor to what would be known eventually as "The Woodsman". This name change in the pistol would come into effect in 1927. This pistol is identified by a checkered thumbprint on the upper rearof the mainspring housing. This "thumbprint" probably was not the intent at that time, but simply as a roughed area on the backstrap to better secure the gun in the shooter's hand following the pattern on their other models. This particular example is in very good mechanical condition with everything working as it should. This pistol has some honest wear with some thinning of the bluing mostly on the slide, high edge wear, muzzle wear and a few spots on the barrel. The grip panels have a very few light pressure marks but are free of cracks or chips. This fine Colt Target pistol would make a great rimfire sidearm for plinking or going walkabout in the woods or around the farm.
