Description:
29-1/2 inch round barrel chambered in 45-70 caliber with a good bore. Blade front sight and Buffington rifle-style rear sight. Overall gun has a grayish brown patina with some pitting in the breech area. Breech block marked 1884. Good to very good wood, with a small chip near the muzzle. Correct buttplate and three swivels.  Most markings are legible but fading. First digit of serial number is faint. Missing the cleaning rod. Very good mechanics. It appears the cadets made good use of this rifle!
