Description:
FOR SALE, one Remington made 1917 Enfield rifle in 30-06, Serial #247576. This rifle is being sold with period correct matching Remington made bayonet (with Sheath), leather sling and canvas gun case. The black leather sling wears brass hooks and is dated 1917. The case is the one that it came to me in, and is old and original. The bayonet is dated 1917 and is correct for this firearm. Barrel is dated 1-18 and bore is excellent. The Remington "R" even appears on the underside of the bolt handle. Everything on this firearm looks mostly correct, from the sling to the sights. It is believed that this rifle is a WWII rehab from National Defense Manufacturing.
I bought this rifle, along with a Colt Revolver, in the 1990's from a widow and her family. The original owner was said to be Homeland Security during WWII. In that day in age, rifles like this could be purchased by volunteers for about $10.00. The rifle shows patina and wear consistent with her age and use. This item is a fine example of guns of this vintage, and the matching Remington bayonet, the learther sling and the period correct canvas case make this a complete set.
