Serial No. 4496, circa 1871-1873, .44 CF, 5.4"" round barrel. Unique cut down, first serial number range Richards Conversion 6-shot revolver. Barrel is marked ""-ADDRESS COL.SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-"". Left side of trigger guard has the 1871/1872 patent dates. Left shoulder of trigger guard strap is stamped ""44CAL"". Serial numbers are matching, rolled engraved cylinder scene is crisp with ""Engaged 16 May 1843"" stamped along the forward edge. Metal is mostly a grey patina with 30% original blue visible in protected areas. Grips so heavy wear with very light traces of varnish left. Action functions correctly with a tight lock up.
