Description:
SOLD...Antique Colt 1877 Lightning double action revolver. Here is an extremely nice Colt 1877. It is the Lightning in .38 caliber. Standard 4 1/2” barrel. The S/N is 99331 on the frame, trigger guard and back strap with the cylinder numbered on the rear 850331? Made in 1895. I am sure this is the correct matching cylinder but I have no idea what the numbers 850 have to do with it. The highest S/N number for this model is 165000 so what the 850 have to do with that, I do not know.. Maybe someone out there that knows more about these can explain this one to me?? Anyway, this is a very high condition Colt as you can see.. The barrel retains about 90% deep bright blue. The ejector housing has most all the bright blue on the bottom and the top with the outer side of the ejector housing has thinned down to about 25% from normal holster wear. The cylinder has about 40% over all with most of it being down in the flutes. The frame has about 45% slightly fading case colors with very bright and vivid colors in the protected areas. The trigger guard with the front grip strap has about 50% bright blue and the back strap has 25% blue and all of that is the area right behind the hammer where protected. The back of the hammer has 85% bright fire blue and the back of the trigger has about 40% fire blue. Most of the screw heads have most all of the bright fire blue with perfect untouched screw slots. There is no pitting or bad spots on this gun at all. A very nice and smooth gun with the balance turned to a nice medium brown patina were the blue is missing. Never cleaned on or messed with.. The markings are excellent. The mechanics are excellent as well in double and single action with tight as new lock up when you pull the trigger in the odd way these guns lock up in the fired position in both double and single action. The grip are excellent as well showing all the very fine checkering with no chips or cracks and a perfect factory snap on fit. The bore is near mint, bright and shiny with just a few very minor specks. May clean out better. The rifling is crisp and sharp as new. The cylinder chambers are mint, bright and shiny with no specks. Untouched full front sight. This is a well above average 1877 that works like a new gun.. Never cleaned on or messed with like so many of these have been. These 1877 models are still very reasonable in price for today's Colt collectors even in very high condition. Can you imagine what this gun would cost you if it was a Colt Single Action !! Look at the photos and give me a call with any questions or more photos. Call 765-728-8049.. 35$ insured shipping.. Thank you for looking..
