Description:
This nice example of a Colt 1860 Army bears the Serial No. 5574 placing its manufacture in 1861 at the very becinning of the war.
of the 200,000 of these made 156,000 were made during the war years. Of these only about 26,000 to 30,000 were issued without government markings making this gun quite scarce. In addition, due to its early manufacture, there is a good chance it actually saw war use with a state militia or private sale to an officer.

This is a four screw model, made to accommodate a shoulder stock. It has an 8 inch barrel and all matching numbers including the wedge. The cylinder naval scene is ther but light. there is some pitting on the barrel and light freckling at its base. It has an overall pleasing plum brown color and shows well. All parts are original and the gun functions well mechanically. Grips near excellent. Shipping is free. Questions welcome.
