Description: This is a full box, 20 original rounds, of .45-70 black powder ammunition manufactured by Winchester with 405 grain "Extra Heavy Solid Head" bullets. The two piece box dates to the early to mid 1890's with the "NEW HAVEN, CONN., U.S.A." address on the top label appearing in block letters which changed to italics after 1896. This box and label version did not have call-outs for the any particular rifle models. The box has very good looking graphics and shows older exterior tape repairs on the bottom which has some seam separation, as do the top side edges with some overall age soiling. The cartridges have age darkened spots and slight verdigris on a few primers but are otherwise excellent. SOLD |
