This model was manufactured at all three of the main French Arsenals, Charleville, Maubeuge, and St-Etienne. This pistol was made as a cavalry pistol and was converted from flintlock to percussion when the more reliable percussion system was introduced. This conversion strikes as a bit primitive and seems to us to have been done in the mid-19th Century in the US with a commercial style hammer. The overall condition is good. Original patina. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock has a period crack through the middle that is immobile. Shows lots of use. Own the original!
