For many decades, it was the rifle by which all other factory bolt-action big-game rifles were measured. To some, it still is. In 1999, Shooting Times magazine named the Model 70 the "Bolt-action Rifle of the Century."
This is a 100% all-original Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Pre 64 made in 1955 and is in collector condition. It looks like it just came out of the box. I found no evidence that it was ever fired. The wood is mint and not as much as a flea bite. The finish looks new. Checkering is sharp and crisp. The metal is also like new. It is a 30.06 caliber with a 22" barrel and a 13 3/4" LOP. The bolt and barrel have matching serial numbers. It comes with see-through scope mounts and rings. The butt plate looks new with only a couple of areas of paint loss on the heel from sitting in a gun safe. The floor plate is bright and shiny. The checkering is sharp and crisp and looks and feels new. The varnish looks new. It's hard to upgrade unless you find a new one in the box. You may never find another like this.
