Description:
Rare UNCUT WT (WILDE DROP FORGE AND TOOL) 16” IN. WW11 bayonet in near new condition. Fits M1 Garand and 1903A3. Orders were given in 1943 to reduce 16” bayonets to a 10” blade by cutting them down and issuing them as 1905E1s. All new 10” production was to be called Model M-1. Somehow, this bayonet escaped being cut down and is in excellent condition. Possibly it was in storage and never issued as the original unusual brown/black grips only have a few minor small handling dings and the insides of the grips are coated with cosmoline. The parkerized blade shows little, if any, wear. There is some brown discoloring on the grip metal (dried cosmoline ?) around the edges of the grips from long storage with cosmoline on it. I have not attempted to remove the brownish discoloring. It is not rust or pitting. The M3 scabbard is in excellent condition as well although it has a few small dings on the protruding edges. Bayonets and scabbards were not manufactured as a set and “in stock” scabbards were issued when the bayonet was. As a bonus the bayonet comes with a custom made blue felt fabric storage sock.
