NSN, circa 1843, .72 caliber, 41"" round smooth bore barrel. Musket has been converted to percussion, Barrel is a smooth dark brown patina. Lock plate has ""Crown/Potsdam"" Stock has a light coat of varnish, repairs are noted at the wrist. Faint cartouches are visible left side. Action holds at half and full cock. Approximately 165,000 were ordered from 1861-1862 with 100,000 being smoothbore during the civil war.
