Description:
A factory letter and historical foundation documents accompany this interesting and unique factory two barrel configuration Registered Magnum Reg. No. 1413 which shipped on September 24, 1936 to Chester Simpson in Jackson Wyoming as a single unit special order and is equipped with an 8 3/4” barrel, original blue finish, Patridge front sight blade and checkered walnut magna grips. Note it was sighted in at 25 yards with a 6 O’clock hold. Per his December 1st 1937 letter Mr. Simpson returned the gun to S&W to have an extra numbers matching six inch barrel fitted with a special ordered half moon front sight; at a cost of over $12! Registered Magnum examples with extra barrels, though extremely rare, are known by knowledgeable collectors. (A handful have been made with extra cylinders as well!) The gun is all original and retains the majority of original bright blue finish which shows only honest wear mostly at the high edges and muzzle. Note the original numbers-matching 6” barrel is installed presently and the original numbers matching 8 3/4” barrel is included. Both bores are mint and the mechanical working order is excellent. A sought after and desirable .357 Registered Magnum in a highly unique configuration that is sure to have a special place in any collection!
