U.S. Springfield Model 1851 cadet musket with long range rear sight in overall good condition. Barrel is 40"" in length, bore diameter is .57 caliber. Metal is a smooth brown patina with pin-prick oxidation visible. Lock and barrel tang are dated 1853. Wood is good with old repair noted at the wrist. Bore is good with strong rifling noted. This is one of only 341 cadet muskets that had rifling and long range sights added.
