GREAT WAR Era IMPERIAL GERMAN ARMY LUGER
Here we present a C&R Imperial German Luger P.08 Pistol, made circa 1914 in Berlin, Germany. This example is marked “B. 6. Ch. R.” representing the unit marking for the 6th Royal Bavarian Division, Royal Chevauleger’s Regiment. The 6th Royal Bavarian Division was a cavalry unit of the Royal Bavarian Army which served within the Imperial German Army. The division was formed on April 1, 1900, and was headquartered in Regensburg. In Bavarian sources, it was not generally referred to as a “Royal Bavarian” division, as this was considered self-evident, but outside Bavaria, this designation was used for it, and other Bavarian units, to distinguish them from similarly numbered Prussian units. The division was part of the III Royal Bavarian Army Corps.
The overall condition is very good. Original finish with a small amount of cold blue applied to the right side where some proofs were removed. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The grips are solid. Numbers match with the exception of the magazine base plate. A very neat piece of history!
