The Browning Superposed has been produced in plain jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen.  The main production for the Browning Superposed was done at the Fabrique Nationale plant in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1976 when regular production stopped.  The Superposed then became a “custom shop” only gun, still at FN Belgium, and still in limited production today.  Beginning in 1977, the Superposed was marketed as the “Presentation Grade” and tagged with the designation P1 for their lowest grade, through P4 as the highest grade.  Each of the P Grades had a few choices of engraving patterns.  In general, the P1 and P2 grade guns were not engraved by hand, but acid etched for the engraving.  Because of this, the engravers would not sign the work.  However, the very early P1’s and P2’s were hand engraved, and signed by the engraver.  This gun, snP23RR1074, was the 74th P2 Grade gun built in 1977 and hand engraved and signed by Jose Baerten, one of Browning’s most desirable engravers.   Built as a “SUPERLIGHT” with the P2R engraving on a blued receiver with raised gold inlays. THIS GUN HAS SEVERAL CUSTOM ORDERED OPTIONS YOU WON’T SEE ON OTHER P2 GRADE GUNS, IE. CHECKERED BUTT, EXHIBITION FRENCH WALNUT WOOD, HAND-RUBBED OIL FINISH, AND THE SCHNABEL STYLE FOREND.  THESE OPTIONS ARE LISTED FOR THE PRESENTATION SERIES IN NED SCHWING’S BOOK “The Browning Superposed”.  YOU WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER ONE LIKE THIS ONE.  They only made 92 P2 twenty-gauge guns, so this is a rare, collectible, investment grade Belgium Browning that will only go up in value as you enjoy it’s use.  The gun is delightful in hand at 5bs. 14oz., much lighter than the usual Superposed O/U.  With the 26 1/2” fixed choke SK/IC barrels , she is as versatile as she is stunningly beautiful. This gun is like new, likely fired a few times but no wear on the gun anywhere, basically a 99.5% gun.    The gun functions perfectly and has mirror perfect bores and great shooting dimensions.  The hand-engraved receiver is stunning, as is the wood, making this the perfect bird gun for your upcoming season and a gun that you will be proud to show off at the local gun club.  Compared to earlier engraved Superlight guns, the price is an exceptional value. See specifications below for details. Thanks for looking!
