NSN, made in 1862, .58 caliber, 37.75"" rifled barrel that has been cut due to possible ""combat"" damage. Rifle is in untouched ""Attic"" condition, Barrel and iron parts are a dark grey patina. Lock is marked ""C.S./Richmond VA."" Rear is dated ""1862"". Nipple has been blown out with remnants visible inside the hammer. Stock has heavy usage and handling wear with jagged wood loss on the right side, barrel band and spring remain. A crack is also noted from the rear of the lock plate to the wrist.These rifles saw heavy usage during the Civil War.
