(.44-40) ammunition manufactured by Winchester in the early 1930's likely as an export box (see Giles & Shuey: One Hundred Years of Winchester Cartridge Boxes, 1856-1956 p70). The two piece green and black label box features the side label Model 1873 Carbine wood cut with call out s for the Model 73 and 92 on the top label. Condition on this place holder box is good to very good with exterior tape repairs for separated seams in the top section. The top green and black label is intact with clear tape covering most of it and the side label has about 75% remaining with tape covering much of the surface. The cartridges are mixed with the majority being correct for the box and some other mixed head stamped ones as fillers. A scarce box that will serve a very good representative example. SOLD |
