I'm selling my collection. Here is a "J. Stevens A.& T. Co Chicopee Falls. Mass USA", New Model Pocket Rifle No 40 Single Shot Target .22 LR. Original nickel plated on the receiver and the blue finish on the barrel rate 65% the blue is lightly thinning up at the muzzle. Markings on the top of the barrel J.Stevens" sharp and well defined of the 10" part round/ part octagonal barrel with an excellent shinny bore with sharp and well defined rifling. Made c.1896 to 1916, total quantity estimated about 15,000. Very good walnut grips. This Stevens New Model No 40 doesn't comewith the detachable skeleton shoulder stock, the grooved butt was professionally converted with a well crafted wooden extension like the Stevens Conlin No 38 it might be a factory job. In an excellent working condition, with good shinny bore with sharp rifling. Rare and collectible.
