Here we present an antique Durs Egg Pistol, made circa 1850 in London, England. Durs Egg was one of London’s best gunmakers. He was an immigrant from the continent, originally from Solothurn, Switzerland before continuing his training in Paris. He went to London in the early 1770s where he set up the business that would be carried on by his sons and their sons long after his death. Durs Egg was considered a trendsetter for fine arms in his day and his works are highly desirable today.
This is a mid-sized piece with a very large bore. It has a belt hook on the left side for stowing inside a belt or pants. Very nice engraving and Damascus twist barrel.
The overall condition is very good. Original finish and strong Damascus twist pattern on the barrel. Clear engraving and markings. London proofs. The grip is solid with good hand-checkering. The action is excellent and strong. The bore is smooth and patinated.
