Unique Custom Floral Scroll Inlays
Here we present an antique Gold Damascene Smith & Wesson Third Model Russian Revolver, made circa the late 1870s. Smith & Wesson produced large numbers of the Model 3 for the Russian Empire by special order. This revolver has the finger hook trigger guard with a 7 ¼” barrel in .44 S&W Russian. The grips are solid metal. There is floral gold Damascene scroll throughout.
Smith & Wesson revolvers, then as now, are some of the finest in the world. Excellently machined, well-proportioned and accurate. It is no wonder why so many records of the era were set with this revolver. Notable shooters and owners of the original No. 3 include Buffalo Bill Cody, Ira Anson Paine, F.E. Bennett, Annie Oakley, Frank Butler, General George Custer and Theodore Roosevelt.
The overall condition is good. The action is functional. The bore is in very good condition: bright with good rifling. The grips are solid. An interesting and very handsome Smith & Wesson!
