Payment Types Accepted: Checks, Credit Cards, PayPal Description: A Scarce & Early U.S. Civil War Military Issued 1st Model Joslyn Carbine In Very Nice Untouched Condition. Serial # 2,685, all matching numbers. All original and complete. Only 2,200 were military issued in 1862-1863. The Carbine has very nice metal, with clear, crisp markings, and edges. It is brass mounted which includes the front barrel band, trigger guard, and butt plate. All of the brass hardware is untouched with a mellow color to it. It is U.S. Sub Inspected. All of the metal on the carbine has an even and natural chocolate brown patina on it. The early carbine has fine wood with nice edges. There is a clear U.S. Inspectors cartouche on the backside opposite the lock. The carbine has a fine bore and action. Nearly all of the 1862 Joslyn Carbines that were issued went to the 19th N.Y. Cavalry which was renamed later to the 1st regiment New York Dragoons In Sept, 1863. The Regiments had a very good history and were in many battles and skirmishes. They lost 4 officers and 126 enlisted men. Some of these battles were "Manassas Juction, Mine Run, Barnett's Ford, Todd's Tavern, Spotsylvania Courthouse, Yellow Tavern & Ground Squirrel Bridge, Colt Harbor, Trevillian Station, Tell Gate Near White Post & Newtown, Battle Of Opequan, Winchester, Fishers Hill, Battle Of Cedar Creek, Liberty Mills, Battle Of Five Forks, And Appomatt0x Courthouse.
