Description:
Beautiful and rare James Purdey & Sons double rifle made in .500-465 caliber. Gun is special in many ways and most importantly it has a strong connection to Barron Bor Von Blixen-Finecke. Gun originally shipped to Zimbabwe, it is a beautiful lightly field used all original gun with 26" Whitworth fluid steel barrels. Reinforced frame is best quality engraved, has side clips, removable disc strikers, assisted opening system, and Jones Rotary opener. Splinter forend, double triggers, extracotrs. The stocks are beautiful and finely checkered. The butt has an engraved steel capped pistol grip and original Silvers type recoil pad. The gun is housed in its original oak and leather case with matching trade card and instructions.

The gun remains in beautiful all original condition. Barrels with about 90-95% original toning blue. Frame with about 70%++ original case color and crisp engraving. Stocks are excellent and sound with minor handling marks and retain nearly all of their original finishes. Pad is beginning to crystalize but is most certainly original. Case is excellent for its age with leather beginning to dry and crackel. Bores are bright and shiny with very strong rifling. Mechanics are excellent and the gun is tight as new.

This is a very rare rifle with a most fascinating history. Interested parties are encouraged to email me for additional reading materials on the gun's history which is too lengthy to be listed herein. It is priced at $72,500 plus shipping. Please dont hesitate to contact me with any questions or reasonable offers on this fantastic and history Purdey double rifle!
