Description:
Here is an antique Colt rifle, made at the end of the 19th century. This is a Lightning pump action rifle. Colt made these rifles between 1887 and 1904. It has a 24 inch octagon barrel with open sights, and shoots .22 short or long (not .22 long rifle). The serial number dates to 1897, qualifying this rifle as an antique (pre-1898 manufacture).
This gun is in fairly good condition for its age. The barrel and receiver were re-blued at some point. The bore is fairly dark, and shows some riflings. There are several small dings and scratches on the metal. The top of the receiver shows some areas of light pitting. The stock has a fair amount of scratches and dings, but no cracks. The forearm has been replaced with a plastic replica. The buttplate appears to be original, with the Colt logo.
The rifle has been test fired and is fully functional.
