This pistol was purchased new in the late 1950s, and then kept as a collector’s piece.
It was stored in the presentation case for many years, when viewed in or about 2010 I noted some rust on the barrel tip where it laid against the cloth in the case.
I had a good friend in the upper management of Ruger and contacted him for help, as I was distraught over this condition. I shipped the gun back to Ruger and asked if they could remedy the situation. I requested they pull and blue only the barrel.
The pistol was returned in a perfect condition, but a transfer bar was installed. They did return all the internals parts for collection purposes, photo attached.
You will note the absence of any drag marks on the cylinder, and for all accounts this is a brand-new firearm. As a collector you know that the company that made the presentation cases caught fire so the firearm with the case is a rare find.
