The "Holy Grail" for Winchester Model 42 collectors are the few special guns highlighted in the Model 42 book, by Ned Schwing. These are the listed guns: The McGreevy gun, the Robert Taylor gun, the Eisenhower pair, the Alaskan, the Kornbarth, the McLallen gun, and the Montana Match. Very rarely have any of these found their way out of private collections and then available to acquire. Here is your chance. The McGreevy gun has been out of the public eye for over two decades..here it is.
The McGreevy gun is on page 91 of the Model 42 book. It is a 28" vent rib, skeet choked gun that was made for Ray McGreevy with special features ordered by his close friend, John Olin, owner of Winchester, in 1959. The special features are the matte black receiver top to match Mr. McGreevy's M12 trap, the double diamond high grade wood, jeweling of the bolt and shell carrier and what appears to be a darker, polished metal bluing.
This gun remains in as new condition.
